Acoustic insulation custom designed for Casa Cipriani, Milan
We faced a very technically complex challenge in ensuring maximum acoustic comfort for the interiors of Casa Cipriani, an exclusive boutique hotel within the walls of a historic palace on Via Palestro in the heart of Milan.
Having been commissioned to meet this challenge through the development of a fully customized solution, we embarked on a collaboration with Viva Consulting, a Milan-based acoustic engineering firm.
All of the hotel’s air-handling systems were located in the attic of the building, an extremely tight space that rendered the placement of acoustic silencers impossible. The fact that the high-performance equipment we were tasked with treating featured significant power ratings and, consequently, produced substantial noise emissions made the challenge all the more demanding.
We specially designed and manufactured trapezoidal, triangular and S-shaped silencers engineered to fit into every available bit of attic space. All devices were manufactured through the use of Slim Hurdle™ technology, ideal for applications in confined spaces with uncompromising acoustic attenuation performance.
One of the most difficult aspects of this project involved an AHU outlet that led directly onto the main rooftop terrace. Without a targeted acoustic insulation solution, the area would have been rendered virtually unusable.
This particular project demonstrates just how brilliantly bespoke design, technological innovation and specialist collaboration can overcome structural constraints to produce outstanding results.
