Whirlpool: acoustic insulation of production equipment
The high noise levels generated by the production machinery at Whirlpool called for a noise control solution that would both bring the facility into compliance with current legislation on noise pollution and ensure worker safety. Before our soundproofing intervention, noise levels of 104 dB(A) were recorded in the affected area.
During the design phase, it was established that all soundproofing structures applied to the ceiling and walls would need to be manufactured using fire-resistant materials. Given the flexibility of our patented Masse Flottanti™ method, we were able to develop a bespoke solution called Wool&Loom™.
An entire soundproofing structure was built (and subsequently upgraded) to house the noisy equipment involved. This structure was specially designed to suit the space available and not to interfere with the production process in any way.
The enclosures were constructed using double-sided sound-absorbing surfaces, designed to both attenuate noise emissions at the source and to improve acoustic comfort in the work environment.
